Essence

Odd that in a metal box
I should deposit for safe keeping
an insurance contract on my life.

While buried deep within a chest
the scent of cedar and old growth forest
envelopes letters.

funny??? not really, but it does draw the lines between what is the commerce of our life and the things with soul... old letters would not fare well in cold steel..they need the essence of the wood to breathe...

as all souls need to

Robert...Love the way this shows the different kinds of important.  I keep all my special photos in an old wooden Captains chest.  Wood is made for this kind of special.

Sunshine and Martie...you too are so kind. You always comment. I should learn from you. Thank you.

Bill....I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to read your words, not only here, as comment, but your verse as well. Thank you very much. Bob

ah, yes, what is really the better insurance that a life has been lived and is being lived but the essence of letters enveloped within a cedar chest

wonderfully woven

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
