Reach Out “Reach out and grab the keys to life and death”, the old man wheezed, and gusted sour breath. I nodded slowly, closed my mouth and blinked and cursed my fate. I’m just too nice, I let old drunks and prophets pull me to their brink and try to drag me on to that last step. “Reach out and grab the keys to life and death.” The old guy slurped his brew, tipped me a wink, and stumbled to the door, and reeling, left. Why is it me that draws the weakest link? It must be written in the stars. I guess their radar picks me out–and they all stink! “Reach out and grab the keys to life and death.” I’d like to grab the keys to someone’s Vette, but I’d get caught and wind up in the clink, surrounded by the smelly geezer set, the cage door locked, my nose stuck in the chink that lets in air. The thought brings on cold sweat. “Reach out and grab the keys to life and death.” Apocalyptic mummies ought to sink into the swamp they came from. I’ll just bet the next one on that stool’s another gink with halitosis. I’ll go home to bed- and there at last I’ll have a peaceful drink– “Reach out and grab the keys to life and death.” Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Ratleader-thank you for calling it good stuff. I was going to write something full of deep and cosmic meaning, but then I wrote this one instead. Marge-hugs, girl.
