+*+*+ French fries made from tofu, Taste better than you'd think, I've found a treat that's good for me, And I am tickled pink! Cut extra firm into fry-like strips, And toss with salt and oil. At 450 bake for 20 mins, ~ No work, no muss, no toil! When ready, place on paper towels, To soak up any fat, Then dip into your favorite sauce, ~ It's as simple as just that! I love Italian-seasoned soy, It's full of zest and flavor. I dip strips in marinara sauce And every bite I savor! French Fries made from tofu, Taste better than you'd think. Just make a batch, and I am sure, That you'll be tickled pink! +*+*+ ![]() [This message has been edited by Earth Angel (09-09-2003 02:16 PM).] |

That was what I had for lunch! They were delicious! For those who are watching their waistlines, they could skip the oil--but I love the taste of the fresh virgin olive oil on them. Olive oil is good for you and can actually help lower blood cholesterol! Plus it is rich in the Omega 6 essential fatty acids. Soy is full of natural phyto-estrogens (yes, even men need them!) and calcium. Sorry, I got off on a tangent! I'm a health nut!--when I'm not being otherwise! lol ![]() I have some of soya fries left over and I'll save them for you. Join me for lunch tomorrow! It will be worth the thousands of miles drive! ![]() ![]() EA |

Is the soya just in the store, in a slab or something? I've never seen any. Sounds different. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

(chuckling)... I place Soya right up there with Tofu... both to be avoided at any cost unless you are a glutton for culinary catastrophies... ![]() |

hahha.....very funny! I'm with cpat hair though. Although you made it sound very good through your humorous writing, I have a stead fast rule about my food. If my fat dog won't eat it, I'm not touching it. =) Joe "The worst vice is advice" (Al Pacino, devil's advocate) |

Pilgrimage ~ I use a brick of extra firm tofu and cut it into strips. I must admit, I do have a taste for very healthy food!--but then again, I have a taste for unhealthy food as well! Heck, let's just say I LOVE food! ![]() ![]() EA |

Captain ~ I am actually referring to tofu so I clarified that in my poem and title. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, poet friend! ![]() I love the stuff! I even put it in my home-made soups and stews! My bones are strong and I have very healthy levels of estrogen! ![]() ![]() EA |

![]() (smiles) Though I wouldn't consider myself a health nut, I find many of the healthiest foods the most delicious to me and instead of eating steak, I eat what they call "Swiss Steak" which is instead bean curd instead of meat! (kiss on cheek) Colorado they say has the healthiest people out of any state in the U.S and Boulder is considered the health food capital of the nation, where I go a lot to get sushi, curry salad, and couscous! (big hugggssssss) Yay, can I have some too, and I'll share the honey jalapeno coconut dipping sauce, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, swet Linda, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

![]() And Capt? TOFU and soy products in general are versatile and delightful when you learn a few tricks. But yes, they can be culinary challenges to those raised on 4 legged critter foods. LOL. |

Noah ~ One of my girlfriends owned a health food store and she was always bringing me lots and lots of everything! --and if ever I went to her store, she would charge me what it cost her!--even then, she'd be throwing extra items into my bags! God love her! I owe my good health to her! ![]() That dipping sauce sounds divine! --You're on! I'll go make another batch of tofu fries! ![]() See you soon! Linda |

angelblueyes ~ Try it! You'll like it!--however, it can be an acquired taste! It soaks up the flavors of surrounding foods and it is a very nutritious food. Huggums, Linda |

Ethel Mae ~ Tofu by itself is rather bland but it takes on the flavor of surrounding foods--or dips! I love it in stir fries, stews, casseroles--the list is endless. I'd rather drink soy milk and eat soy products than go on HRT! (hormone replacement therapy). Loveya! Linda |

Yum, I love tofu, I'm going to make some fries, what a great idea. I also use only olive oil. And I have to have my soy milk in the morning or my day just doesn't start out right! Linda, maybe you should start a health food discussion group, wouldn't that be great? ~K~ |
