One day I was sitting at the park
The sun was setting, it soon would be dark
I was watching the children laugh and play
And skip merrily along their way
When I happened to notice over by the slide
A small, liitle boy who seemed to hide
He watched as the children ran and played
Never joining them in their melancholy way
I walked over and asked his name
He was shy, he wouldn't say
So I sat beside him in the sand
Trying to make a castle that looked grand
I started by looking for things to use
For this castle would soon amuse
As I began to build my castle high
He scooted closer by my side
The next thing I knew, he was helping me
With the windows and the trees
As we finished with all of our things
He showed me a smile and told me a dream
He said I wish my mom and dad were here
I wish there was no woes and no fears
I just looked and nodded my head
Letting him know that I was there instead
Then we put water in the moat
And found a boat that would float
Next thing I knew, there were kids all around
Smiling and clapping at what they had found
They asked who made this wonderul thing
I said this boy,he's so full of dreams
They gathered around the shy little boy
And this castle we had built for a toy
I went quietly back to my bench
Smiling and watching in deep content
And as the sun began to set
There were only a few children left
I saw the little boy getting ready to leave
He'd been so busy with the kids by the trees
He walked up and squeezed my hand
Without saying a word I did understand
Now when I come to the park each day
The same little boy plays and plays
For he no longer needs to hide
For he has friends by his side

Nice...very nice...there are some parents that have children that don't want children...and then they treat them accordenly...they value connections with someone that sees their worth...James

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh my gosh, this is sooooooo beautiful, sweet Crystal, now I am flooding with tears because I love children with all my heart and believe every girl and boy is special and I want to devote my life to helping children along with songwriting because...I used to be that little boy and I know how hard it can be to be alone and I want all children to feel loved and welcomed! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, you deserve extra special angel friendship hugs for this gorgeous write, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Crystal, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

What a sweet read!  I liked this very much - strong and positive message.  Every kid needs that.

I admire your way with rhyme.
