I see this age through bitter eyes
faith in decline as time grows old
and nature still holds to surprise
although the age of green grows cold

Those ancient trees grow darker now
beyond the shadow on the hill
the world grown cold forgets it vow
yet ancient trees are standing, still

Perhaps my heart grown wild and bold
hears nature's echo, through its course
perhaps, bright futures once foretold
will now respond to love's remorse

Those ancient trees beyond the hill
stand silent, stoic, unafraid
perhaps the earth will vent its will
and bring to pass all sad plans made

The shadow spreads beyond the hill
and captures treetops in its shade
although the trees are standing still
we're witnessing a world unmade

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Gah, this is beautiful, and hollow..I love this very much, the way you describe things is magnificant..

Kethry~ I will forever be drawn into words,
even when I don't tell you so.

And always, you take my breath away, and hold it still.

You made the echoes resound
and the tears well...

Perhaps, one of your best...

I agree... this is one of your best... It leaves mixed emotions... primarily sadness... but also a bit of awe and anticipation. *S* Well done!

Beloved heart as you know I said this sounded Entish, I think so more than ever now, having just watched for the umpteenth time The Two Towers. And in the same way the films are so akin and do credit to the book, this is definitely an Ent hymn, and wouldn’t be out of place in Treebeard’s litany. What more can I say other than it is outstandingly well written and perfect in everyway.

Love you always
and forever
Mushy
