This tick
draws a little,
leaches my substance, life,
until slowly swollen, sated,
it departs; to be replaced by one more
tick, and another, another.
Is there no end of them?
So many ticks
to wait.

I started reading with a thoroughly wrinkled nose and a "eee-yoo" muttered underbreath... for summer farm trips often have me fighting those bloodsuckers! *G*

But by the end, I was thinking of other things that leach the life from us... unpleasant things that seem endless... times that sap spirit as efficiently as the creepy-crawlies do blood. *S*

As always... you made me think... a tough thing to do to a blonde... tougher still to make her enjoy the experience. *G* And I did... this is excellent! *S*

I enjoyed your form in this one. -Didn't like the ticks. I had one actually on me a few years ago at camp and had hysterics, so I get teased for that. Being teased is okay, having a tick on me isn't. I know this is moving from an image to a deeper meaning, sort of like the way they burrow their heads in. Yucch. Now I'm making myself sick. Nevermind.

.....Quoth the Pilgrim: "Nevermind......" Love ya, Nan!

Yeah, Martie -- I was feeling that drag today...every tick seemed like a bloodsucker out to nibble me to death. One day I'm glad to get to the end of.

The many ticks go by faster and faster, but maybe a bigger worry is when we start hearing the tocks, I don't know....  ~K~

I don't mind the ticks in wait, it's when they gang up on me I get scared.

Wow...this gets under the skin (and into the mind) for sure.
