It lies, Sickened by the crash Its eyes, roll back, try to focus Than fix; On what comes after death. What does it see That extends past the end Of our crossed paths? * Long before us, At times beginning When starlight lit-bright, Green-swamp ooze Giving it legs, To traipse high ground Becoming more And more exaggerate: Though snail-trot animate Scum, evolving slow Into diverse branches Forming a tree, On which the leaves Are different families. * From this, After years uncountable Since we were wave slapped Algae, Getting stuck On dry land, Have we become you and me? * Have our paths crossed By the working of a plan? Or were your eyes Simly entranced by bright Sealed beams, And mesmerized By random chance? * A second, more or less At start of life, Might have changed the scene. You could have crossed the road Short way ahead, Or very close behind. Or perhaps a nothing is, That alters what began Far long ago in time? * end |

hi ice The beginning ...so well oozed and not so pretty, yet...the question you pose is one so many ask. One small step changes the whole movement in time, and what happens to what was meant to be? I really liked this thought filled poem! |

Thank you, Martie...:-) I hope it is clear in this poem that the animal is a deer, I didn't mention what was hit by the car, does this take away from the poem? Thanks for reading and commenting......ice |
