Winter safeguards life
waiting for the Sun's return
season's must be earned

Winter cleanses time
Summer's heat stagnates the soul
world's die to bring life

icebox

In southern California, winter is many times cleared by Santa Ana winds.  They bring the temperature up, sometimes to the 90's, and clean the air until every outline is sharp.  I love this part of winter here.  You can see it most years during the Rose Parade on January 1st.

In places where the seasons are felt, winter is a healing time, to hibernate and regain strength.  Sorry to ramble on...I liked your poem.

I take it you like the winter season?   It is refreshing & beautiful when the snow falls. Enjoyed. Chris

Martie ~ In Southern California it always seemed to me that the trees could not figure out which season it was.  I have often wondered if people got confused also. *grin*

Nightshade ~ Yes, I like the long nights of Winter.

angelblueyes ~ Yes, it is true; by the end of each season I am ready for the next one.

littlewing ~ oooooh, yes, that is a nice moment!  Thank you.

icebox...I think yes, many people are confused here, including me...but not because of the seasons.
