~*~

What seems like an eternity
has been only a few days
where time paces in the shadows
haunted by my own words
as are the seeds that we have sewn
and I wonder what you're thinking.

Like a newly potted plant
that was taking place in bloom
I am lilting on my own
without the sun on my face.

Perhaps I shall move down the steps
but I fear putting myself out there
in case it makes no difference
staring down an empty sidewalk
that is filled with quiet sounds and trepidation.

I miss you and the laughter that we shared
when I conjure up the time
it spans in all directions
and surrounds the daylight in equal shades.

I feel you there at the edges of my smile
like a single bloom
that I've been missing all my life
and so I remain in the same place
to wait and watch, until then.

~*~

There's something about the way you say things -- painting your images with equal parts of sight and emotion...... when I manage to do that and make it work, I know I'm a poet. You do it every time.

Visions like these.....

"I feel you there at the edges of my smile "

"...staring down an empty sidewalk
that is filled with quiet sounds and trepidation...."

Just excellent! This is the fourth time I've visited this poem since you posted it -- think I'll just library it, so I don't have to search next time.

Lori...

i'm actually speechless. the images
here made me both smile and sigh. I
felt like you took a glimpse of my own
heart and soul. However, you wrote it
much more beautifully than I ever could.
Great write sweet lady!
Take care.

Ohh Bluesy, no matter how hard you try
this will never occur, trust me

I am lilting on my own
without the sun on my face.

Beautiful writing

As always
you bring my emotions rushing out of their little hiding places
drawn to the light of your words
then I have to round them up and drive them like a herd
back into the shadows where they are safe
where they belong.

I guess it is good exercise
for all of me.

*smile*

Thank you for sharing this poem here.

You know Bluesy - I am not sure that there is anyone that does emotion in poetry as well as you do - and once again, it conjured up some serious, "ahhh" in me.
