Incline

I can still feel the bench,
the curve is hard.
I know it is planted in the park
and one day in winter
the rain will change it.

It strains now on the incline,
holding the hilltop.

Will erosion one day take a leg
and leave it hanging onto air?

Lovers have filled themselves
on it’s sloped wood,
in between the movement of day
a hand has briefly balanced
the heft of skin,
then moved down to warm begin
of kiss that lingers even now
in the curve where initials have been carved.

Will they forever be so profound?

And will there be time
before the coming of the chill
to stay bare armed into the evening, still
holding on to slip of sun in wait of dark?

With love
the good cold dirt is alive
and seeping seed. I hear it.
It makes me hungry for the change of season.

Where will fall be raked
when across the path the trees
loose their gowns?
Will it be stark and true and show us
seasons only love renews
with a blanket?

For now the bench is slanted on the hill,
staying as if life around is all that moves, yet still
I know that one day in winter
the rain will change it.

yes..........you are ....profound

You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name ...

wistful wish for an ideal..for a change of clime perhaps and all tied to the things now in incline..some will slide down the hill, some will weather the season, but none will be the same.

That's the best kind of park bench...with a little slope to it, and lovers' initials cut into the wood. In fact, maybe that's the only real kind. You certainly make this one feel that way!

Another ride on Martie's magic carpet....and what a beautiful view....

That you do this at all is a wonder
That you do it repeatedly is a gift

Still got your classic touch....I can see
that bench sitting there,  waiting for the
erosion to one day take it away from it's
place in romantic history.....are your
initials there?  I forgot my penknife..
