The Essence of Evenings

A box of photographs,
a glass of wine,
memories and I spending the night –
pictures of you between my hands
recapturing the essence of evenings,
of jazz appreciation nights
on the living room floor,
blankets and pillows beneath us,
around us,
mellow jazz low in the air,
silken-skinned you, bare,
aganist the naked texture of me –
soft-spoken words – love
between us, within us. . .
A box of photographs,
an empty glass,
memories and I longing
for the essence of evenings. . .
no longer there.

Oh...the scenario is poignant, the images you put in my head are romantic, then fading, and the story told is sad, but all too real for many. A beautiful write, and I appreciated every moment...~S~
