Passions in Poetry - What it is I stepped a step and paced a pace Into a world of joy and grace And then I watched, and then I read The poetry which I was fed It was a path long and serene Through verdant summer woods of green That gave me peace and filled me up With all the fill of poet’s cup And then inspired to gather words Of wind blown limbs and August birds Someone encouraged me to lift My pen into the Passion’s drift If not for friends, if not for you If not for pages painted blue I would have faltered even more Through all the pain and strife I bore You carried me on wings of love With words of lark and coo of dove And saw me through a season’s ache Wrought by the fate of life’s mistake And now that happiness survives I view these pages real and live As yet my very flesh and kin That warms my spirit deep within But now and then a fluttering sound Behind the fern on forest ground Distracts the mind and turns the head Off of the path that it was lead But quickly I resume my goal To ease my heart and fill my soul I step a step and pace a pace Into the magic of this place I cannot stop, I must go on Before my path through life is gone I savor splendor of the phrase That speaks a thought and soothes my days For poetry is why I’m here Among the squirrels and birds and deer It is my life, it is my peace And from this path, my steps won’t cease I’m trekking through the summer wood Regarding nature as I should With every tree held in esteem I step my step through summer green Elizabeth Santos |

Bravo, Elizabeth! I had to read this one aloud. Oh my goodness, perfect flow, perfect words, perfect rhyme. And how you expressed my feelings for this wonderful Passions place! I have to tell you that you inspired a rhyme from me today. I adore AABB, CCDD, etc., rhyme. Mine still needs some work, so I put it aside. Hmmm...think I will pick it up again tonight. Wonderful, my friend. I have so much to learn from your work. Patricia [This message has been edited by Patricia (08-23-2003 11:42 PM).] |

For poetry is why I’m here Among the squirrels and birds and deer It is my life, it is my peace And from this path, my steps won’t cease ~*~ Amen, Elizabeth. If everyone remembered why we came... then it truly would be a utopia...thank you for this, and for all of your gifts to us. |

Elizabeth, You wear the ring of epopee To hear and make the blind to see You have the spirit and the wings To bring to life all these things |

Elizabeth: I seldom get to Open and haven't read anything of yours for a long time. I'm so glad I found this tonight and you are still master of the pen! I loved this poem. Betty Lou Hebert |

For poetry is why I’m here Among the squirrels and birds and deer It is my life, it is my peace And from this path, my steps won’t cease Good morning Liz...your poem is why so many of us are here at Passions and why we write. You, dear lady, have captured the hearts of so many who love your writing and your soul. I hope we can all remember your words as we post. This is a place of passion and poetry and caring for others. Hugs, Marti |

So beautifully you have said what we all feel, sweet Elizabeth. Your words flow so gracefully across these pages of blue. I hope you don't mind if I keep these words about our "family". Hugs Ethel |
