Dirty water still gets me clean
leaning towards the sanitised descriptions
of fairytale love

I would square your shoulders
if I saw you, dear reflection

Red lipstick never suited me
eyes too small and lips too full

Didn't deserve this
laid on thick, left to scrape it all off

Have you ever stared at someone for so long
they no longer look the same

Like you've never really looked before
though you've seen them everyday?

I only knew your name, your faith, where your priorities lay
and you never did remember the conversations we'd had.

Like a jet -- hard, clean, purposeful and without waste of any kind....I like this kind of writing, and I like this poem very much.
