I must confess
I'm not very good
at this thing
we call friendship
Scared
Most of the time
Afraid of stepping
on your toes
Running backwards
when I feel
the insecurities
taking control

I'm lost for words
When it comes to explaining
the situation
to how
sometimes we just know
Despite the fact
that we've never been face to face

So I do hope
you don't mind
and that
this doesn't sound
too silly of a rhyme
When all
I really want to do
is thank you
for always
lending me your
angel wings to cry on...

If at first you don't succeed destroy all the evidence that you tried.

There has been many an hour
on this arduous path
when I have fallen
skinned my knees
tripped over my own words
and knelt
barefoot and bleeding
staring to the sky
for a sign
something
to tell me I am not insane

And I clearly recall
tossing my head back
and cackling
madly
to nothing at all
The only sound
an echo
of my own heart beating

The last time I fell
I didn't kneel
nor laugh

This time
when I tossed my face to the sky
A hand outstretched
blocked the sun from my eyes
and I smiled
taking it within my own
not realizing then
but now
that I was graced by an angel
