Fire And Ice It ran as deeply as the river that was before us As moving as it's waves making their way to land It's as vivid as it was when it first graced my eyes And, I'm still there with the memories clutched in my hand... Just to expose my palm would mean letting you go When I'm in grip for dear life and here holding on Understand when you left that river was as blue as my heart And, by the time you read this our river will be gone... For, I've always known life to be much like fire and ice Ever warm, ever cold, just paying existent's price A path to often traveled engraved from where I've been But, this time, I did those miles in the arms of a friend... I climbed those hills to a past to high to look down Feeling the flames of those memories the hours had found I felt the coolness, going back, that was left with the winds Oh, until you cleansed that fire and ice from my skin... There was radiance and kindness all in such gentle light Warmness I've never known to come from the deep dark night Coolness to extremes as you soothed my familiar pain Oh, just tell me how did you carry the weight of my rain... So, here it is the evidence of such a hot summer day But, I am here and so cold now that you've gone away It's fire and ice I've known and I'm again going through Waiting to stand, once again, on the stairs of heaven with you... Saunni, I can always feel the depth of your understanding of life when I read your writings. You, my friend, have an insight that escapes most of the population, and it is thoughtful, graceful, and pure.
