Did you ever ring a chapel bell
then stand aside and wonder
is it ever heard in hell?
Did you ever ring a chapel bell?

The damned will never tell
if they hear its muffled thunder;
did you ever ring a chapel bell,
then stand aside and wonder?

I too love the sound of the church bells..
but have never rung them myself.
Good thoughts to ponder.

I have never had the privilege of ringing church bells, but I have been very near to them when they have been ringing. I could feel the reverberations in my chest and it was a thrilling experience. It was as if God was imparting his energizing vibrations into the very core of my soul. I imagine that if I were to be with the bats in the belfry, they would be deafening--but pure ecstasy!

Besides the poem, I enjoyed the poem of the title! lol

Wow.
Wow.

I love this.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Perhaps the bell in this poem
Might be thought of
As a metaphor for a voice,
Pealed out
Into a firestorm of impulsive actions,
And opinions?
*
After reading this poem
And rereading it again,
I stood aside and wondered.

enjoyed the poem.....ice

I wonder if some on this earth enjoy the sound of the chapel bell...if not, they would not appreciate the sound in hell...James

The sound of Chapel bells are beautiful to me...or at least they were until Princess Di's death...anyway..I let my mind wonder off..

Made me think...so much thinking to do and not enough coffee..

Most enjoyed Icy!

Now, Iceman, this is a triolet. Very good, Sir.
No, I never have rang a Chapel bell, but I sure
have heard a lot of them. Now, if people in hell
will hear them? I doubt it.
Hugs to you
