~*~
Let's gather 'round
in joyous fun.
The days of summer
have just begun.
It's the longest day
of the year.
The Summer Solstice
is finally here!

Elder, chamomile,
lemon, thyme,
larkspur, wisteria,
roses, pine.
Verbena, mugwort
and male fern,
lavender, frankencense,
in incense burn.

Sweet fruits, vegetables,
fresh off the vine,
manna from Nature,
blessings divine.
Gemstones of verdant greens,
emeralds and jades,
ivies and climbing vines
entwine balustrades.

Candles of sun-yellow,
grass-green and sky-blue,
glowing both day and night,
until the morning dew.
Aphrodite, Venus,
over festivals preside,
radiating beauty,
passion, love and pride.

Let's gather 'round
in joyous fun.
The days of summer
have just begun.
It's the longest day
of the year.
The Summer Solstice
is finally here!
~*~

Oh I wish my printer was working...I want this to grace my table tonight!

(I'm preparing a feast today.)

Hmmm..may I write this out by hand, so that I might place it on my altar? (full credit given of course)

Thank you for this, Linda, and may this the longest day be a joyous one!

Blessed be...

Summer is here and yet it still feels like Spring here in NY...Acutally, I feel like I live in like London or something...All the rain just doesn't wanna go away. I enjoyed this, it was very peaceful to my mind. Made me think that this summer is gonna be awesome. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Peace...~*~kirah~*~

Linda dear, someone's confused ... my calendar says June 21, first day of summer, but it's really cold and so rainy here.

I think Mother Nature is slacking on the job.

Love your take on the solstice ... hugs

serenity ~

I trust your feast was festive!

Sorry about getting back so late with a reply. Yes, it would have been fine if you were to have used my poem. In fact I would have been honored. I've actually improved it now, so when your printer is back in working order, you can print out the new and improved version!

Happy summer!

Noah ~

There is, indeed, a special energy, "essence" as you so aptly put it, at this time of year.
I glad you enjoyed my poem!

Marti dear, you may be right!  Poor MN (Mother Nature) does get a bit discombobulated at this time of year and sometimes gets her seasons mixed up! I'll have a talk with her--your warm summer  sunshine is well on its way!

Happy Summer!---it's coming!
