Our Porch Swing By Larry Chadwick If I build for you a porch swing, Will you sit and swing with me? Can we while away the day, Reflecting on what might be? As the moon begins to rise, And when the stars come out, Would you swing with me, Sharing what life is about? Even if the storm clouds come, And the rain begins to pour, Can you sit and swing with me, Counting what we are grateful for? I don’t care if it’s scorching hot, And the sweat begins to run, I hope you sit and swing with me It would be such blissful fun. I think I’ll build a porch swing, It will fit both you and me. Where we’ll look into the future, And pursue the things we see. June 18, 2003 If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. No better way to spend a summer evening. I hear Arizona gets pretty warm this time of year. Get on it Larry.... I love those swings, especially when they come with cushions. |

JilGirl, Thanks! And it's nice to meet you. I hope you've found a home here. Ethel, Cool! And thank you dear girl. Me too. Forgotenandgone, Sweet! A quality moment of life for sure. Edder, Perfect! And thank you. It's nice to finally meet you. Lori, Thanks. Cushions? LOL Yup hot indeed. But I don't care. I've built them but never for myself. What's with that? If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

I'm going to have to build a porch swing whenever I get a house now. It is a beautiful poem. Thank you. "There are three things men can do with women: love them, suffer for them, or turn them into literature." |

Larry C, I love porch swings and it also brings wonderful memories for me, too. Your title caught my eye and the words inside it touch my heart. Awesome! Larry...this is just beautiful. Such lovely thoughts, and I love porch swings. The only part I could do without is this... "I don’t care if it’s scorching hot, And the sweat begins to run," I think I've had enough of 'scorching hot' for now...LOL. I love this, though. Nicely done. Reminded me of when I was a little boy spending time at my grandmothers and she had a huge front porch with a porch swing on one end...we spent lots of time on that porch swing, and in her rocking chair...James |

Susan, HONEST, I wasn't ignoring you. And such a totally cool response! Vicky, LOL Well, I would have to agree as of a few days ago about the heat. And thanks for your kindness. James, I have similar fond memories, cool. Thanks. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
