I spent years looking for friendship,
But she always seemed to evade me;
Once I found her, and spoke to her,
And tried to get her to stay—
And what did she say?
“You cannot persuade me.”

Finally I stopped chasing her,
And then there came a knock at the door;
Friendship stood at my doorstep—
Could I dare hope she would stay?
And what did she say?
“I’m here forevermore.”

Benjamin, this is so pretty.

Sorry I missed it before. I'm glad that I didn't now.

Benjamin, you can't force friendship, but once you have a dear and loving friend, it stays for a lifetime.

I enjoyed this very much. It's making me miss my best friend who moved half way across the country.

Hugs, Marti

Ben,  I like this.  Excellent, the way that
you took it from one direction to exactly
the opposite...mysteriously good.

Friendship is a great thing to have for support, but also sometimes, is the complete opposite!
