in the shadows

0 posted 2003-06-18 12:32 PM

My heart,
a mist
of shrouded wilderness,
cold forbidding fortress
guarding an abyss
in which I found peace,
sanctuary from a crowded world
in which I learned to be alone.

Your eyes
gave back stars
to a heaven I had lost;
your soul
moved calmly through walls
all others feel as stone;
your smile
revived my courage
to reach out,
grasp life again;
your steps
set softly on barren pathways
in my soul;
even in shadows,
your footprints
grew flowers.

This read beautifully aloud, especially accompanied by my beloved Vivaldi (Concerto in D Minor for Viola--Elliot Fisk)

so poignant...left me all misty eyed, and that's on a "natural" too!

Oh my....
how lovely is this...
this is such a beautiful declaration of heart.
the depth of the devotion is felt in the lovely poetic imagery and analogies.
Another excellent write from you poet sir.

No matter what the differences
No matter what the cost
When words become our weapons ...
All that's beautiful is lost.

ice:

this entire poem I can relate to
extremely well . . .

but as I read this:

My heart,
a mist
of shrouded wilderness,
cold forbidding fortress
guarding an abyss
in which I found peace,
sanctuary from a crowded world
in which I learned to be alone.

ahhhhh you know me now dont you?
amazing write, friend

even in shadows,
your footprints

Exceptional writing and how fortunate you are to have found someone to bring such joy.

Thank you for such an enjoyable read. How I wish I could write like this.

Hugs, Marti
