its supposed to be about a mirror, but turned out morbid and dark...sheesh!

Reflections of eyes stare back into nothing
Black solitude that I can only call my own
Drops of red run tenderly down
Pulling pieces of the rotting skin
I see before me in the mirror
Into my mouth, surpassing the lips
Only I see in the reflection I kiss every night
For I am alone with only one companion
Broken glass that lays on the cold floor
For that I suffer misery
That started because I was born
Still searing through naked flesh
It takes my stringed body away
Making me crumple to the floor
Seeing my bloody face in broken glass
The image I’ve held in my head to long

*the bloody tide comes in on the shore, time after time*

Indeed that would have been an image held in your head too long!!! I'd suggest you get a new mirror! One that reflects the beauty in you!

Riley
not only have you met the challenge
but this is one amazing piece of work!
God, I know that feeling, as most of us do
Packs a punch for sure - awesome job
(btw I once did a write to a
challenge Larry had and we were
suppossed to write something happy
and choose a topic so I chose
"Best Friend" and it ended up
a morbid triolet about my dead dog)
LOL
This is really good
xxoo
