where the wild flowers grow

I always cared, you know
I did.

Though you threw
careless words at me,
as if I could catch them all
with only one hand free.

I was always there,
even when my voice halted,
and when my mind was distracted.
When the burden became so heavy
and you took apart the seams
that kept me together.

I always cried when
you weren't around,
watching the clock for your return.
Greeting you with a smile, a true,
passionate embrace..
Even when the very thought of
being happy was frustrating.

And
I always enjoyed the warmth you gave me,
and took your frozen spurts with
grace and understanding.
I loved the way you ran your fingers
through my hair, and
I accepted it
when you chose not to care.

I always dried your tears and
told you it was fine to weep over
miniscule things.
So why, my love, why
did you take my heart and run with it?

I always cared,
you know I did.

uh, speechless.

are we living the same life?

the echo in this is chilling, i always cared, you know i did.

its so funny, because I had to say this the other day, when I was accused of not caring! ha! he was the one who never did.

sigh.

LIBRARY!

Instant karma's gonna get you.

I didn't click the library button, blame it on the raging hangover.

whewww, know this one personally...and those words were heartbreakers...along with his actions...why or how could I have not known...your poem has brought back the only memory now in my mind....the last and lasting memory...his phone call to me from her phone...God how awful!  My heart goes out to you...hugs...

We each have our own dictionary, and it is dynamic.
In time, we may forget to look up the important words, like "caring" in the other's dictionary, or forget to tell them that our definition has changed . . .
