Between the Lines

When Once I Knew

I have no canvas to touch
with the heart of my heart,
no trust in the windows of eyes
that fade the colors quaint.

Vacant, where fiction once stood
between the lines romanced,
the shelf upon which wishes were laid
and dreams were polished till
the armor shone in the dark of night.

When once I knew, my words
no longer have meaning,
each released with emptiness,
leaving only a trail of dampness behind.

To lack intentions,
to lose one's purpose of word
leaves me somewhere, anywhere
but between the lines.

M

Such a sad poem. The next to the last stanza brought tears to my eyes but there is always hope. Maggie

Maybe the wrong people are listening...

I think your words hold much meaning...and I enjoy hearing them..
