On noiseless feet he tread alone, Through pillared aisle of forest dense, In search the way of sin’s atone, In silent stealth as walked he hence. No star to guide, no luminaire, Anointed not, he sought asperse, To meld life’s rent, life in dispair, On darkened path of his traverse. No mortal man had passed this way, On forest trail of creature’s wild, Tree’s canopy blacked light of day, Along dark path of life defiled. He sought to calm his savage breast, He walked alone, by beast possessed. |
