One Less Interrupt

Tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta…..

Delete delete delete…

Now, I can tell, as she
Sits idle.

There goes the thought.  I know
When it disappears.
Manicured nails
Lay quietly at asdf  jkl;
Two thumbs warming my space bar
Palms resting on my palmrest…

Then her eyes move from the monitor where the words
Were appearing, looking down at me,
A frown of disappoint wrinkling her brow
And lining her eyes,
As if I had let her down.

She doesn’t mean it, literally.
But where did the thought go?

I provide no answers in my
qwertyuiop
asdfghjkl;
zxcvbnm,.

Even staring hard at
1234567890
Doesn’t help.

As quickly as her muse sprinkled
In her the idea for the novel,
A brief ding or other interrupt
And it flew away.

Raised to respect, she swallows
Then shuns words of ill-temper
That swell momentarily.

It’s the same with her poetry.

F12.  Save As.  Give it a name, the idea
Is half-way birthed.
The labor is hard.

She remembers the time when she shared a kernel
Of story,
And then it took on
A life of its own.  Well meaning friends
Lauded, applauded, the story poem grew.

Each new part, each new line, drew
Breath from her lungs,
Blushed at her flush,
Wound up as tight as the sinews
In her arms
After throwing bales of hay.

She worked the land,
She worked me.

As many steps in a day as her feet took,
She multiplied them who knew how many times
Through her finger strokes.

She even utilized Z a lot.

But when she birthed a poem,
A true epic from her
Mind, with a little help from

Muse,

She never rested on it.

She had rested her mind for far too long,
And now she was giving birth
To the promise.

Her fingers having done it all, the
Raising of children and flowers,
Preparing food and drink,
Laundering and bathing,
Hanging clothes and folding towels
Stripping paint and floor wax
And working for others
To make a way.

But she held to the promise
And the promise is me.

I will get her there, even if the interrupts
Are frequent, for I am her escape
and her sin, her diary and her confessor;
I am the holder of dreams and wishes,
And know of the silent tears
That inwardly flow down her arms
Into her fingers.

Tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta…..
Tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta…..
Tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta-tacka-a-ta…..

Shhh.  She only prays for one less interrupt.

Asked vlraynes for a challenge…
She wanted to know if I had ever
Put myself into the role of a keyboard.

Well, if I hadn’t before,
I have now.

Vicky?  This one’s for you!

Wow...you really took this and ran with it, Karilea.
I think I'm going to have to come up with something
more difficult for your next challenge.
GREAT job!
Hugs,

I will never look at my keyboard the same way ever again!--I do believe I owe her more respect!

You are soooo imaginative, Dear Karilea!

Well my parent's keyboard doesn't mean that much to me, but MY keyboard? You described it perfectly *grin*

Fantastic, all of it!!

Sweet, sweet fruit. Healthy, and so good it leaves you breathless.... Your keyboard is taking my breath away, and I couldn't be happier about it.

This is incredible...I agree with EA...I will never look at my keyboard the same way. A very interesting challenge--very creatively met.
