Emotional Constipation (a closer look at a serious condition) There is an affliction, no psychiatric term I’m aware With symptoms that present first as an “I don’t care” Come slow a progression, feelings no emancipation No term for the disease, I call it emotional constipation Believed to be caused by a fear to feel sorrow or elation Thought to be brought on by previous social humiliation Evidenced by a strained and restrained look on one’s face Unfortunately, during my practice, I’ve seen many a case I tried to treat the symptoms by providing example to see For if they could grasp the free spirit held inside of me Then I believe their emotions they could then be set free But to date my strategy has resulted in no viable remedy Oh wait, wait I have a revelation... A way to eliminate the constipation By George Byron, I think it be They need a visit to Passions in Poetry For Shakespeare’s sake, they’d have to see How so many others let go emotionally I know I will perform a test of my wonderful hypothesis Let them read Passion’s poets ‘til I say when And perhaps they’ll learn to feel again. I will have to get back to you with my future findings But I’m certain a visit here relieves emotional bindings. [This message has been edited by Patricia (06-11-2003 02:55 PM).] |

Patricia, Oh you know how I feel about this subject you call "Emotional Constipation". Yay! I think you adressed it so well. I really, really, enjoyed this poem Mike [Really enjoyed it! ] P.S.-And yup, if poetry can't unlock their feelings, I don't think anything can! Laughing at Karilea and her comment. That is one problem I don't need, so I guess I will just stay here... |

Let's just hope that they don't get diarrhea of the mouth like I seem to get sometimes.... Sorry, my friend, I just couldn't resist. It came to my mind as soon as I read it, but I resisted saying it for about two seconds. LOL Hugs to you, lady Ethel |

There IS a term for this, but who cares? Just teasing a bit. (Rumor has it I'm naughty that way...) But yes, this is a wonderful treatment of a look at those in "nowhere land"--and I agree with you, it's fear. Applause here. |

Thank you for your emotional replies...it seems none of us here at Passions suffers with this disease. However, I have known many...my ex-husband, my ex-boss, my ex-mother-in-law...notice all ex...perhaps they need some emotional ex-lax as well a trip to Passions. LOL Ethel, you little stinker, I laughed so hard at your comment it took my breath. Patricia |
