You can sit and brew your sorrow Then lay and let it stir But hinder will your morrow When blessings may occur You can cry a thousand teardrops The treasures never find Nurture all the sleeping crops To help the weeping mind But goodness needs a doorway A place where it can start To then deplete the inner pain That strains the weary heart So through the door to warmness And on to where the pain On to sharing what’s inside And what good does remain For sharing what is biting The cord that plays the heart; Turns each day more inviting And a better place to start And finding friends that care enough To sit and give you care Will turn that brew to happiness And rid of what was there ........... We ourselves are enemy We fight our life within Reluctant for the cure To let the love back in So open up your goodness And let a few more share Learn to share a little more With all your friends out there |

We ourselves are enemy We fight our life within Reluctant for the cure To let the love back in Oh Rick, you are speaking to me, especially with this stanza. I was just accused of this yesterday. I am having a difficult time with this. Rather than accepting love, I feel like bolting. I fight it. Oh, gosh, I didn't mean to bare my soul. But you touched me with this. On a more technical note...your meter was perfect, the flow excellent. Great write! Patricia |

This is very good advice - and expressed so poetically, how could anyone read your words and not respond with a sharing friendly smile??... |

Dear Patricia, thank you for this reply, I think that most of us are reluctant to let people in too easily, somehow we feel comfortable with our pain, living with the sorrow, somehow it shelters us from another painful experience. I don't really know, guessing at a lot of what life dishes, just hope one day to have a wonderful main course. Again thank you, your reply was much appreciated once again. Take care my friend. But goodness needs a doorway A place where it can start To then deplete the inner pain That strains the weary heart I have been thinking these very thoughts all morning and was astounded to see them here written just for me. Thank you! |

Hello Rick Your words always carry such a strong message and I am always inspired when reading your works of art. "Love alone is capable of uniting human beings in such a way as to complete and fulfil them, for it alone takes them and joins them by what is deepest in themselves." Take care........Sue I am in motion |

Hi Rick...thank you for writing this poem...really hit home...as I am living proof...I don't want to let anyone in or close anymore...and I'm ok with that...yes, sometimes it does get lonely....but when it does...I think about those times when I was with someone...and there is nothing to compare that kind of lonliness, feeling of failure. Awful...but your poem was very beautiful and leaves one to ponder....thank you |

Dear Sue, you are always so lovely with your replies, I enjoyed your write also, thank you. Dear Dixie, once again thank you my friend, always good to see you here. Dear Sandra, life is a learning curve, it is nice if some words make the difference. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Dear Linda, I seem to find that feelings and inner thoughts are the inspirations that guide my pen, somehow it relieves so some things I can forget. Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated. LeeJ, wonderful to read your reply and that it gives you something to ponder, may the lonliness not become to empty my friend, for I am finding that life is too short. Dear Ethel, thank you for calling me a friend, my heart I share with you all, you are all so kind to sit and listen and be there. Dear nakdthoughts, you are right, that is a big reason we are all here, to share and find a place where peace is offered for a while. To you all my friends, again thank you for your replies and kindness, take care and be well. Sincerely Rick |
