COMPLACENCY

The error of complacency haunts this moving stage
and brings the curtain down on all that can be found.
and in the final act of submission to the norm
certain death of energy the reward of human beings.

The life-blood of a soul demands to be set free
and discard the weight binding it to normality
but prisoners all are we jailed by history
forbidden entry to the garden of our needs.

From a shout to a whisper and then finally a sigh
travels over mountains and across the countryside
in silent remonstration and sad condemnation
of unjust sentences passed down to humankind.

Line up all the fools of every colour, race, and creed,
and confiscate all jewels of compassion, empathy.
Divest their human brains of ingrained memories
and watch how they walk on the plank to their demise.

I tremble in my anger and sleep fitfully at night
yet smile and nod my head grateful for being fed
but food for my soul remains cooking on the stove
and everlasting torment my sustenance till dead.

“Boil and bubble, toil and trouble” and I sink soundlessly,
the stone of complacency tied firmly round my neck!

Yeah - I can get a bit "mad" sometimes.  Thanks for the read.
