(Sidenote: Cliff's is the name of an ice cream "joint" off Rt. 46 (Ledgewood/Succasana area) here in Northern Jersey. Best ice cream in Northern Jersey and home of the "skyscraper".) In memory of a loss Ice cream at Cliff's, I gave you the shirt off my back because it got cold, remember the worry in your voice when I climbed that oak tree, the day at the park, sitting on the asphalt, how you dragged your nails across my scalp, fingers through my hair, hours on the phone and the day we both got drunk and standing in the family room you refused to let go or leave until I kissed you, clearly a mistake, the night in the field, my hands upon your body, such an uncertain and comfortable thing, those words which never found my tongue come sharply now, to the ear which listens to itself, finds no regret, but when I think of you, I wonder where you keep the flowers I painted, if the necklace hangs loosely about your neck, you had me bare breasted the entire ride home, and I did not mind so much as long as you were warm and sitting next to me. !! This is an awesome write.. These lines I particularly enjoyed: "how you dragged your nails across my scalp, fingers through my hair, hours on the phone and the day we both got drunk and standing in the family room you refused to let go or leave until I kissed you" Awesome. |
