Lacing My Days There are times when I awake, the early hours giving me pause, my words scatter, brained too deep. I look you over, wondering if what I see, in eyes of truth, mine, is unmasked before me allowing me to settle in, feel the flow, and master my fantasies. At the moment, I feel untitled, neither loved nor in the process of, the emptiness becoming the norm. The quietness touching me more often than not. If it rained on me today, I doubt whether I would feel soaked, but instead would enjoy its touch breaking the monotony of another summer day. I wonder if second chances were meant for me, if body language says more than I wish it to, pushing away what could be. There's strength in fear, protecting me from dark illusions, from betrayals and flashbacks of crumbling walls. I am held in a kiss, one that has walked away leaving me drifting, studying cloud formations pretending I see more than what's there, so I can lace my days in golden dreams, center my mood in tomorrow's gain and save a smile for you. A very beautiful love poem, Maureen. I enjoyed reading it. Hugs to you Ethel |
