O' how I wish I had the time, To write for you a splendid rhyme, Perhaps a funny little ditty, To show to you I'm cute and witty, Or maybe I would write a sonnet, If I had the time, I'd get right on it, I'd pen an ode straight from the heart Of love divine, 'til death we part, Another choice? Perhaps a limerick, If I could stop wristwatch's tick, And tock awhile to let me think Of words to write that would not stink, I'd make a poem grand and fine As beautiful as vespertine, But alas, I have no time, To write for you a splendid rhyme, I suppose it's just as well, Tick tock, tick tock, goodbye, farewell, Time's run out, I now must leave, And from my odes you gain reprieve.
