I went for a nature walk
on a bright afternoon,
thinking of Thoreau,
seeing like van Gogh
and re-living Rousseau.
My reverie was disturbed by
a sudden movement.
Something was lurking in the bushes,
staring back at me.
Scary green eyes were all I did see.
No shape to discern,
no smell to detect,
'twas not down on the ground
but standing erect.

It took a while to identify
who this creature could be,
I laughed when I did see it,
for it was only me,
reflected on a wet leaf
in the mid day sun.

I've heard about people who lurk in the bushes. And you weren't arrested?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

thanks for hiking around with me

Larry? of course not!
Besides, I had that you-know-what on, so everything was adequately covered.
