the fishing man trolling on soft swelling waves he drops anchor at the room content to use his dip net to pull up female profiles throwing back sharp fins and teeth keeping his hands clean from slime he decides to tie on a plug without hooks just for practice increasing his confidence while avoiding the hard heads testing different bobbers big little red yellow orange seeing a promising prize he floats a topwater lure greatly enjoying himself while refining his strong skills with popping jerking buzzing swimming her along his cork finding her day after day in the secret land of night he goes to his honey hole his lucky place where nibbles are always abundantly full of her untangled line testing what his lady fish might like each day he switches to some crankbait that allows him to fish while sometimes reeling fast and other times slowly or doing the stop and go after using many baits he brings out his down rigger deeply plunging in waters pushing his luck figuring fishing for two doubles fun confident he won't get spooled yet tragic circumstances frighten him into chaos making him tighten the drag not knowing which of his fishes will make his line pull harder making one line way too tight thus the constant pulling force threatens to break his prized line and then without looking back his fingers quickly reach out gently removing one hook throwing her back to the deep Janette |

A very well written piece. Including some handy tips for the angling impaired amongst us. I cannot claim to know the loss Of that which never graced my reel. Curse my fingers and this face That leave me casting useless lines In pools of expert fishermen Who land their catch. While fish conspire to throw me back again. |

Toad - Oh pooh! It happened to you, too? *wink* Well, better luck next time and remember ... there are always more fish in the sea ... so keep practicing your cast ... you just might catch ... the big one. *grins* Oh, and thank you for leaving me such a darling poetic response, too. James - WOW - what an astute response... I would say his head was definitely in la la fantasy land ... so it must have been a mermaid he was after. Hahaha! Thank you for leaving me a response. Enchantress - Gosh Nancy, that certainly was a dear message you left for me. As you might know I rarely post in OPEN but decided this one was "safe" enough for here. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed. |

Ratleader - Oh mannnn ... what a thought ... dinner ... I love it ... fish fry! Hahahahaha! Thanks. BluesSerenade - Clever response! That's what I forgot to include in this little tale ... the worms. I guess that just goes to show that the early bird catches the worm. Hope your nets are always full. Thanks |

EagleOne - Thanks for stopping by Eddie and reading me, dear friend. Catalinamoon - Yes Sandra, the mermaid James suggested was an interesting point. That famed mythical creature with the head and upper body of a woman but the tail of a fish. But the thought that puzzles me is this, what could possibly be the attraction of a "fish tail" for a man? Go figure ... Hahahaha! |

Janette ~ You are sooooo clever! Yes, this poem APPEARS "safe", but it sizzled my monitor! --and was he blind or something! I think he kept the carp and threw away the mermaid! EA |

I like this, Janette, they are so often only fisherman, and once they catch, the charm is gone. *** Sandra |

papabear - by all means, just hang out your sign ... gone fishing ... and enjoy. Thank you for reading this one and replying, such a nice surprise to come home from work on a Friday afternoon and find comments about one of my little poems ... big fun. Earth Angel - Ahhhhhhhhhhhh ... hear me sigh ... what a lovely thing to say to me ... Hugs back at you and thank you! Bill Charles - Thank you, yes there are plenty of "fisher men" on the internet but this all happened long long ago ... I have not been in a chat room for years and for this very reason ... I hate lies and games. Martie - Thanks, I had to go to a fishing website and pull up fishing terms to write this one since I am not much of a fisher lady. Hahahaha ... not bad for a blonde huh? |
