School and Children I hear them say, “She has such sad brown eyes.” Look how she walks isn’t that sweet. I wonder if she’ll be smart like her mother? Look at that coloring and her hair is as soft as silk. She certainly is a beauty. I have to go to school today. I have to learn how to walk and how to sit properly. I have to learn to use my voice when danger is near. I have to learn sign language, all those meanings of the hands. I have to learn to be a lady, be gentle, and be extra kind. I have to go to school again today. I think I’ll take an apple to the teacher. That little desk is uncomfortable, maybe I can sit on the floor. The teacher standing before me saying, “You have such sad eyes, you sure are a beauty.” I’m going to graduate today. I have learned to be an obedient little girl. I walk by your side and sit when I’m told. I’m graduating from puppy school today. I’m a big girl now, and I sure am a beauty. Bonnie J. Sittler From : Words Floating On The Wind |
