Boldness Becomes Her

Exhausted, holding to a game
of trivial pursuit...
questions by the thousands

no answers for her mind to hold

She chooses a tennis court as
battleground of choice,

batting "black magic's eight ball"

back and forth
it returns

forth and back

her mind the net

Would she take hold of bold,

look destiny in its eye?

One failed attempt to
navigate ball's lazy eight
does not stop her

Not now, for this moment
she holds to strength of character,
boldly standing ground

hers, owned for

so short a time,

Whacking magic eight straight
past opponent's bluster...

The sinister judge who presides
over games of fear and regrets

Triumphant
victorious,
she met him again,

he, whom

she poised long ago
on towering pedestal
in her mind.

Baring her soul,
shamelessly,
fearlessly...

For honesty became her.

Even then.

Now boldness blazes her, even more.

With her foe defeated,
she has a china-cupper upper hand

not in game of chance
but in a playoff's reality.
