Somewhere over the rainbow

Nature contracted a cancer 203 years ago
and died a long, grueling death
murdered by a thick dark cloud
that inched its way over the world
slowly eating poor Nature
Morsel by Morsel
Leaf by Leaf

She died in the arms of her lover
the poet
who threatened suicide upon her death
until various new partners caught his eye
and he left the corpse in the company of worms
and now only returns occasionally
to marvel at the last remaining beauties
Last respects
before the army of maggots close in
and devour all that's left.

So now I peer out of my window
and what do I see?
5000 shades of green,
which I can only describe as...green
when I should be able to see 50000
each with a singular description

Even if I try to hide inside
the most remote parts of her crypt
The grass has still been trodden
by the foot of man
I still hear the roar of the maggots,
smell the fumes of the parasites,
and can see the flies buzzing above my head.

Where can I go?
The land of absolute white
bares footprints in the snow
even in the land of eternal sunlight.
The savage trees of the jungle,
are still marked by the hand of man
Plunge me to the depths of the ocean
and still I will be surrounded by the fossils of civilisation.

Beauty no longer lies in the Elysian Fields
but in the watery eyes of man

Long Live the King

Everybody hurts, take comfort in your friends, cos everybody hurts sometimes

Gadzooks! Gaia is screaming in the ears of those who care enough about our planet to listen BUT all has not been lost. There is still so much bounty and beauty to behold! Sink not into the depths of despair over that which has been desecrated--that could only disempower you and deter you from perhaps helping to stemm the flow of nature's destruction. Powerful poems such as this one do help bring these issues to the fore and hopefully will help make a difference.

Peace & Light,

I'll be keeping this piece, thank you.

Listen, as my heart cries and beats, in mute sighs at the feel of this poem.
