Phoenix in a Summer Storm

I am a phoenix
The Phoenix
in a summer that's supposed
to be filled with rapture
did you hear?
I'm sixteen now
ready to live life for what it's
worth
I stay home most days
sometimes bored
then I work
usually bored
home is no home
work is no salvation
I am lost in a labryinth
of lies, falsity, treachery
can't help it
can't remedy it
am stuck in a summer storm
of displeasure, anger, unhappiness
family
they aren't mine
claiming to be
I don't know what that means
nor care to
little girls screaming at me
pulling at me
whining to me
I can't help them
much less myself
what is this
feeling of loneliness
doing?
permeating my summer
bliss but there is none
for a phoenix I am
but caught in an unbearable
summer storm
with no salvation
forthcoming

I don't know if today is a good day, or if yesterday was, or if tomorrow will be, but I'd like to think so.
