Dear Cindy, It looks as if you haven't convinced the usual suspects that you are serious about your question. Perhaps I am misreading them. What would happen if you tried to make the question more specific, though, since in its current form it does seem pretty much improperly formed for serious discussion. Try breaking it down a bit and ask what, specifically, about the definition of life, at this specific moment in time, is the specific thing that you would like these specific people to help you focus on. I would like to point out in advance that the concept "everything," which is the most comforting and immediate answer that comes to mind, does not in fact increase the specificity of your response at all. It is only another way of restating the original vagueness. If you do want help in taking a shot at some sort of answer, then it seems important to me for you to take part in shaping the question. Otherwise I can pretty much guarantee frustration by everybody all around. That's my initial suggestion. How acceptable is it to those various people who've written anything so far or who are considering speaking at this point? Curiously enough, BobK |

The best answer is, who's not?  Life is the biggest rollercoaster there is...just when you are lulled to sleep by the click-click-click, slowwwwwwwwwwww climb up to what you think might be the heights? plummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeettttttttttt... and then, again, click-click-click (some mild rock and roll) "Let's hear it for FOGHAT!" and? *ahem* click-click-click... (and this bird you'll never channnnnnnnngeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...)  (more mild rock and roll, but now yer gittin' to the Keith Richards part!  )and then some more plummmmmmmmmmmmmmmettt and Mick! Mick-Mick!!! gleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Mick me again!  and then oooooooooooh.... shudder daylight and yer travelin' down the wrinkles of Keith Richard's face again, astrogliding next to a Barbara Walters hologram in a lonnnnnnnnng log ride of Jimmy Page drool... and splashed by Claymates! (Clay Aitken fans with swan wings--to the tune of Prince songs? NO--it's TOO MUCH!) and finally, at long last, you slide into the end of the ride, to be toweled off by "Suede" from Project Runway, and check the board to see if your pic was chosen for display by "Christopher" as fierce. *shrug* That's my walk-through, anyhow. Life is the elements when they are compounded in such a way that a body has the ability to be an active "sponge" if you will, taking things in and giving things out, breathing, eating, drinking, growing, multiplying, etc. |

Wow Ess that WAS below the belt! And I just happened to stumble on it, tssk tssk. Shame on you to think I'd presume to post any question in this forum let alone one as banal as "What is life?". And then follow it with: "I myself is still thinking about this ..." Get a grip man!  I can assure you that Cindy is not moi and moi is not Cindy. As Ron is the one sending coded messages, if you are really so interested that you have to indulge in forensic speculation I suggest you ask him what he means. M (and before your paranoia suggests I am Judi Dench, I am not her either! ) |

(and thanks Ron! :waving: You just brought back the memory of having my aunt scrub my face with a line-dried wash cloth...) Nod. It stung a bit, but I knew I was clean. Sorry about the mess I left. Cindy want MO? *laughing* THIS is life: It's not a 'something' we wait for just beyond the curve of now hoping that there will be more of happiness, if that's what's now or less of tortured moments, down the arches screaming glee or round the hoop-de-hoop, and free we screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam of everything that's worrying you, (and me) "obscurity" regarding us, the end of ride. "Please remain seated in seats, for your own protection, please" Observe the rules (and don't mind me) I am just annoyingly persistantly pleading for an all-day pass and pay-one-price just might sate me... but I doubt it--I am me and oh I love to fly! |

Wow, it has been a long time - my goodness, I even have a few grey hairs now... But I guess thats the cycle of ... er... life... But, serenity, I agree with you... life is exactly that... life It's what we percieve...good god my spelling is awful...but that I suppose is the philosophical answer... -sigh-Life, as it were in a clinical sense, is nothing more than the possesing of and note the irony... LIVING dna... it's one of those amazing questions, with few to no decent answers unfortunately... In my humble opinion... okay so it's not so humble, sue me why don't you (If any of you sue me I'm so going to start crying...), life is the existance of a psyche, no matter how simple or complex it may be... but that's just me "Our Father who art in Heaven... Hallowed be thy name..." |
