I agreed with him more often than I probably should have -- which still wasn't all that often. I never found him strident, but he was always a powerful thinker with good ideas. He seemed willing to change his mind and was not afraid to tell you that he had changed his mind.

He was not simply a giant of conservativism, he was a giant of civil discourse.

He will be missed.

Boy, it really concerns me when I find myself agreeing woth both Brad and Mike. In this case, I gladly do. He was indeed a giant.
