True enough. Of course, that may be said about any two things though. I was thinking more along the lines of comparative words that appropriately specify the kind of "different" distinguishing either gender from the other, if there are any. "More patient" "more impulsive" "softer" "stronger" "more rational" etc. There are many biases , stereotypes etc. Are there any such words that are actually very appropriate and true? actually I've found that many stereotypes can be generally true, though not always, and that's the rub. They don't always apply. Here's one: Women are more nurturing than men. Always true? No. Somewhat true? Yes. Stephen |

Stephen, you are so right. (I have made the decision that I would not post here but I can't help now). Because you told the truth. Women are more nurturing than men. It is always true when in pregnancy since woman carries the baby. To be honest, Sir Essorant, this can't be a serious question. Ron's answer is perfect but very boring. Other answers either needs data to prove or may start non-ending war. What if I say that woman is smarter than man? Very soon, it is close to no difference because one may self claim being either gender. |

. George Gilder made a point a long time ago that women have a default identity defined by biology where as men had none. It takes a woman nine months to become a mother where as a man? . |

"...is this parent hood related?" Yes, it is nurturing and bringing up young. Bringing up a puppy from youth is just as much a form of parenting as bringing up a human. "have you watched the babysitter when I did the graffiti? sir Essorant?" What in the world are you talking about, Tom? |

I was afraid that what I was talking about the parenthood was away from your original question so it might get deleted [This message has been edited by TomMark (02-10-2008 05:22 PM).] |

. I don’t see how we can equate the personal physical experience of pregnancy with the adoption process. . |

I may just change the topic a little bit. Has the role of man/woman changed along the development of society? I was in a friend's party last evening. My friend complained about the old life style: woman does the cleaning, the cooking and taking care of children and working outside. And the new generation, as she told me, several people around her, the man prepares breakfast for the family and then goes to work. And he hires a servant at 2000$/month to take care the wife and the house. The wife goes out to get massage, movie, friend's chatting, art class: painting, photographing. and claims that she fully supporting the husband. We considered them selfish. But should we? Sigh, How lucky the woman of new generation!! And my dear neighbor from Japan...the woman's situation has not changed much for the last..many years. Woman in general has more endurance. |
