. The topic title is taken from that of a book I read a long time ago. Scenario: We are Israel and are about to be overwhelmed by an attack that this time we can not successfully defend ourselves against. The prospect is either that we and all those we love will be killed if not murdered in a second and complete Holocaust or what few survivors will subsist in abject slavery; all this while the “civilized” world wrings their hands and watches. Yet, by virtue of nuclear devices placed in all the major cities of the world, we have the ability to ensure that if we die everyone else in the world dies with us. What argument do you offer against it when the time comes us pushing that button? . |
