Any thoughts on the next twenty years?

"Here I was, being lectured about humanity by a robot."

Well, that quote seems like a good prediction to me.

I don't think this will ever stop being an explosive topic. Just like abortion, there are politically two sides, black and white... while realistically, every shade of grey exists between them (the article already pointed this out).

I think it is those shades of grey that cause such moral conflict in people, leading to all the controversy.

I'm sad... I though this one was interesting.

~ This topic reminded me of the movie, A.I.

"Melvin, the best thing you got going for you is your willingness to humiliate yourself."

The most tell-tale statement in this article to me was that biotechnology will be "the political issue of the future"... I have a suspicion that 'biotech' will be the 'oil' of the future.  It is a grossly profitable money making industry and that's what it's all about in the end.

But don't we potentially have another revolution on our hands here -- along the lines of the automobile?

I don't know, maybe I've been reading too much Neal Stephenson.

Along that lines ~ I think you might find this website interesting: http://future.iftf.org/biotech/index.html

.

So when all is said and done
who is willing to go into oblivion
for the sake of an unknown unborn child?
