What is the Universe? Where does it come from? Where does it go to? |

Hi Essorant. One definition might be it is all the matter, energy, space and time that exists from the tinniest bit of matter and energy to the extent of the farthest stars. Or were you thinking of something more philosophical? As to your next questions: God created the universe described as "the heavens and the earth" in Gen. 1:1. AS to "where does it go to?", there are at least two views of thought: 1) In Rev.21 we read of a "new heaven and new earth; for the first heaven and earth had passed away.." RSV. The earth and the surrounding heaven (atmosphere) will be new while the vast reaches of the stars remain unchanged. Thus, the universe doesn't go anywhere. 2) There will be completely a new universe with the present one burning up. The "burning up" comes from 2 Pet.3:10 "..the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up. Why the whole universe recreated? Paul says in Rom. 8:19-23 "For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God; for the creation was subject to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God." This seems to imply that the whole creation will be made new. |

Who says God made it and, if anything, not the other way around? |

But why does it seem likely that God was not creating his ideas all the time? Was he just sitting in front of a blank piece of paper all that time, thinking about poetry, then suddenly realized he should write it? ![]() |

lol, i have no ideah... we'll never know for sure till we behold him in all his glory on that day, but the church of christ seems to think that God was once a man, and we too shall be gods like him. |

Is it possible that life in our solarsystem began on a different planet? |

“possible” is too open. It’s possible that this is all the dream of a worm that can’t wake up. |

What if life spiritually migrates from one planet to the other as the sun grows smaller or larger, and is embodied anew on the next planet in line? For example if the sun became smaller or larger to an extent that it was no more a size right for one planet, Mars, but it became the right size for the next planet in line, Earth, then life became now embodied on that next planet that was previously on Mars. This perhaps happened all the way back thro the planets where the beginning of life in our solarsystem was therefore on Pluto! |

Man said back: "Where is God's or man's creation If not created in thee? You have a sense of obligation Because you have it in me! Just as the wide ocean and sea are bound to fathom and stream Universe, thou may not flee Having men and what they dream!" |

No one knows. It is just one of those mysteries that we can talk of forever and never find an answer. It has been a wuestion that always stumped me. I wish I could figure it out. It is too much to comprehend. Some believe that our minds were made too small to comprehend such a notion as a universe. And what if there is more than one? Or what if it does not end? Is that even possible? I do not really believe we will ever know. I wish I could figure it out, though. Kristabell |

Wow, what a topic! I must say I do agree with you guys that the universe should not be defined, and that God didn't necessarily create the universe, but still, why stop there? This is what I think: that if the universe was not always here then it could not exist. The theory of the big bang can be destroyed with a few simple sentences... If the universe was created by the big bang, then what did the universe exist in another super universe? If so then what did that exist in? Within the path of the Goddess I walk, she guides my every step.. into the oblivion called life. |
