(I am not sure if the topic is family safe, so I put dots so its safe) Choices define who we are, its funny how sometimes the weight of that thought can cause us to place the weight on others. I went to my collages orientation and I heard disturbing things. Appariently its partially the womens fault for being ....., according to men and some women around the campus it is. I wonder if here is some corrilation to why the .... rates are so high in that school that a couple media souces put it on news. Is it really the fault of the victom of being assauted? It doesn't matter what clothes they wear or if they are wasted, no one is at fault for having crimes comitted against them. Choices are choices. The violated made his choice and he could of made the choice not to......... its all about honor... Juju |

There is no discussion; there is no 'philosophizing'. "Is it really the fault of the victom of being assauted?" The answer is NO. Period. It has nothing to do with honour and everything to do with disrespect (to put it mildly). |

I agree that it is not the victim's fault. You can't say that it's what she wears, etc. People are free to make choices, and so they are free to decide what they wear, etc. That the victim is dressed in a certain provocative manner doesn't give the violator an excuse to assault her. |

Juju....I would not call that honorable as much as I would call it character. I think there is a distinguishable difference in the meanings of those words. In my opinion, there is no excuse for these assaults whatsoever. Tho the way a woman may dress may provoke the attention of a potential assaulter; the way she dresses is her choice. However, if I were a young lady again, I would do the practical thing and make the choice not to wear provocative clothing on dates or in situations that might lead someone to think I was "loose." Some men would say, "well she was asking for it; you should have seen the way she was dressed." Well, I think there are stalkers out there that would try to blame their violent behavior on someone else rather than accepting responsibility for it themselves. |
