Deeply mired in philosophy and spirituality one of the greatest writers in modern history. An example though Steppenwolf and others are much finer examples. http://www.online-literature.com/hesse/siddhartha/ |

Hesse's been a favorite of mine since "Demian" was required reading in one of my high school English classes. I thought "Siddhartha" and "Narcissus and Goldmund" were excellent books. |

Yeah, Siddartha was required in my Philosophy 101 class. Hesse, Russell, Nietzsche, Nozik, and a few others. Loved that class - First class I took when I went back to school - got me hooked on learning it did... Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn. |

I too sing his praises. I had to read Siddharta for my philosophy 121 class. I greatly enjoyed the book. 2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2 |

I love Hesse. I've read Demian and Siddhartha. And the latter, I've read 3-4 times! I marvel at his ability to say some of the most profound things imaginable with deceptively simple language. Kamala (doesn't my screen name just speak volumes on this subject?!) |
