We walk our paths, play our roles Sometimes touching, making contact With each other, with ourselves But mostly not. And swept away in times tide We grasp for something solid, lasting But youth fades, strength wanes, beauty flees Familiars pass, and we are left Alone With ourself The stranger we passed in the night Never took the time to know Mirrors return our emply gazes Hollow eyes stare blankly into the emptiness That is their own reflection Yearning, straining to recognize Something, anything Of immutable worth Why, where, when, how Did it come to this? |

Lenny, this is a wonderful piece... I wish I wrote it. It says what I often feel every day. I'm confused as to why you are posting poetry in this forum, though, since I thought the Philosophy 101 Forum was for discussion. I think if you post this in Open Poetry or the Critical Analysis forums, you'll get response from the others. ![]() -dp |
