Words can create histories, they can tear down barriers, and sometimes build them. Some words will be recorded into posterity, while others fade away as you speak them in deadly silence. Beware of those, that can use them as music, creating vivid images, opening up closed minds, rusted closed by fears, afraid of public opinions, fearing to be different, talking in a voice of similarity for their voices will be awakened in such new clarity. If in a rose on paper, you can almost smell it, growing in you to blossom, in a fragrance of your mind being released in its intoxication. Its hypnotic spell creating an exquisite aroma of such fantasies, that your heart melts in its pleasure to please you, then create the rest of the garden for me, to listen and imagine from, in its addicting word play of the music coming together to please others. In a free flight of blue sky, let us look over untamed landscape, to see every possibility of paradise, to soar within on wings of imaginations, to see the darkness of starlight, exploring the universe, inside and outside set boundaries, to record those words from you, that will be remembered into eternity. Heart beating so proud, from an education finally graduating, life has just begun to teach you things. Never assume anything, always question your reasoning, for what others have told you must be taken with a grain a salt, for the sweet tongue of deceit may have deceived you, into thinking something else, use all your abilities to find the truth, and never use someone else’s creative accounting as factual, always question it in your principles. So now in tears that reflect, sadness for losing some friends to distant opportunities, happiness that a paper has given you a chance to go on with the challenge of life, having a future paycheck more than bread and water. Never let your words fail you that come from within a heart, so proud today. In genuflection, I give you my prayer, that your success gives you the peace, within you to please yourself, and the other lucky ones with you now, even if there are a memory or a spirit, in words they spoke so dear, for let your voice ring out, hip, hip hurrah, you have graduated. Thought: If you take ever word of every textbook you have been taught from, there still are words in the dictionary never used. So there are going to be new adventures to challenge your mind and maybe you will create a new word to be added to it. Note: This is a birthday gift from a poet who ask for in return that you light a candle for those that have faced abuse and the bruises that are within them now in memories haunting them. For even if I was not abused or been an abuser, the hurt I feel from them makes my words cry in pain. So make this poet proud in words that make love with humanity but never to destroy it. Let the truth heal in the candle light of warmth, for this dreamer, his love is in his words of free expression and those that carry the next generation. D.Lester Young 04/28/03 |
