This poem is in response to Music Maker's challenge of 4/14/03,
about Rainbow Bridge. It's in memory, also,
of my beautiful dog, Sarah,
who was with me for 15 years...
not only my loyal companion,
but my best friend.
I know she's crossed the Rainbow Bridge!

Through dimming eyes I see a land
In which you romp and play
The place I would have wished for you
When death took you away...

My faithful friend, you brought such joy
Into my human days
And as we grew, in time allowed
I learned to love your ways...

You greeted me each morning
With a happy doggie kiss
And if I'd been away
You made me know that I was missed...

Your needs were always simple
Just a meal, a pat, a bone
But you were there for me
And never let me feel alone...

Then time flew by, and took it's toll
On you, my special friend
And I could see within your eyes
Your life was at the end...

I held your head upon my lap
The day you said goodbye
And even now, when I recall
A tear falls from my eye...

But somehow, I can picture you
In such a wondrous place
Enjoying all the things you love
Within wide open space...

I see you somehow waiting
There, you're standing on a ridge
Oh, could it be you'll meet me
When I cross my Rainbow Bridge?

Thank you, Sy, and if this eases the loss for just one reader out there, then that's good enough for me...

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sunnyone, I know with all my heart Sarah is waiting for you beside the Rainbow Bridge and you will be together again! (wipes tears) I know how you feel because when I was a little boy I had two kittens but one died of a fever and one ran away! My mom hated to see me cry so she hugged me close and told me I would see them again when the time is right, I guess I love animals too much and just want to be able to pet the kitties again! (sigh) Your Sarah will always love you, as you are the best owner she could ever have, as you have a golden heart, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sunnyone, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

Yes, Noah, you will see your beloved little kittens again.  I think, as humans, we connect with the souls of our animal friends, and that they are gifts to us.  I know my Sarah was.  God Bless, lil bro...

Nancy, thank you so very much, and I hope that it will inspire those who have lost their loving friends to seek out new ones, as there is now another little sweet Sara giving our home much joy!!

You brought me back to memories of my Afghan, who also gave me 15 years of friendship.
A nice challenge response

Hi M, and thank you, my friend. I'm so glad that it brought back happy memories of your loving Afghan...(what gorgeous dogs they are!), and you'll meet again!!

Hi Brad!  Well, I'm honoured by your reply, but I can't take all the credit...you see, as Music Maker was checking out dog sites, (he's a breeder/trainer), he found the excerpt of 'Rainbow Bridge', and it inspired him to throw a challenge out here, which in turn, inspired me. It's nice to have such wonderful friends like you here...thank you so much!

Hi Ericc, and I just wanted to put into words the joy that my Sarah had given me all those years.  Also, to share a little hope with other pet owners who have lost their beloved friends.  Thank you, my friend!

Thank you Passing Shadows, and I say that as I sit here with a new little 'Sara' at my feet.  As it has been with people in my life, each beloved pet that I have had the pleasure of sharing with, has been unique.  And although it hurts when we have to say goodbye, there is always a new friend just waiting to become a best friend.  So, I hope anyone who has lost their friend to the Rainbow Bridge, will open their heart to a new little life and all the joys that can be had, or an older life that still needs love and kindness.  Thanks again!!

I have just bought a new dog, she's wonderful! But I still miss Zeuss, my old spaniel. Thanks for bringing back all the good memories I have of him. Now I have to go and hug Missi my new friend.

Hi Kethry!  You'll always remember Zeuss and all those little things he did to bring you smiles...but Missi will have her own little ways, and you'll be blessed with more smiles! Thank you, my good friend...it was nice to share with you here!
