He wondered about the woman With the dark look in her eyes She looked so lost and so lonely He wanted to bring her alive She thought him curiously formal Sensed him intrinsically wise And when he held the door for her She saw something in his eyes They met in mid October When a rainstorm was washing their world She said, “I’ve been waiting to meet you” He said, “I knew that we would” She led him down to the river Where the fishing boats ride out the tide Rigging gently clanged on the boat masts The stars came out in her eyes “This is where I live”, she said “Damn the rain! Please come aboard.” His senses peaked at the sound of the key In the lock of the galley door She could feel his breath on the back of her neck She sensed him very alive And then when he held the door for her She knew the look in his eyes He made love to her down at the river But a storm was beginning to blow The riggings rang out their warnings The wind carried away the gulls She’d buried her wants and desires Something inside of her had died She stared out at the horizon, and The darkness returned to her eyes His senses were keen on the message And the rain kept pouring down He knew that a river that’s motionless Signals the calm before the storm They parted there at the river And now he understands Though she’s been here over and over He’d held her heart in his hands |

I enjoyed your words so very much and I think we must have been on the same wave length as I've just posted a poem about lovers in a storm and gulls looking for shelter. I'll look forward to reading more of your words. Take care......Sue I am in motion |

Kahlil, this is truly beautiful, a lingering love story, so well written, that I pictured each scene as it played out on the screen. Wonderful writing, my friend. Accept these small gifts from my gypsy heart ~~S~~ |
