If you come to visit me, Come knock on my back door, For Mother’s clutching close her kin, Not three now, no, but four! Four little eggs beneath her feathers, Sleeping close in start, I’d take a photo, but you know? I just don’t have the heart! For to ruse her from her nest, ‘twould be a minor claim, And she belongs where her heart is, On babes that bear her name… So photoless we’ll go just now, But if you see my 3 in 1? Know a fourth is now laying there, And their journey’s just begun! |

Okay, Karilea, I'll go through the back door. We don't want to disturb the little Mama. I'll be watching, too, for the next report. Hugs, Ethel SSSSHHHH....... I'm tiptoeing out.... [This message has been edited by garysgirl (04-22-2003 06:41 PM).] |

Ethel? Margherita? When you ladies come back, bring your favorite beverage - we'll put out the lawn chairs and enjoy the back patio - the squirrels and rabbits are a riot just now! |

How the heck do I know? A week? Ten days? I'm sure we can look it up in Google...however, I've got it all calendared [I'm keeping a diary/calendar now...snippet notes of whatever excitement crosses my day and guess what, the bird is the big hit for right now...but birthdays are looming my horizon...] but I keep peeking for when Mom swoops off [careful not to make her go unnecessarily] with my camera in hand. That camera has never felt SO much touch!!!! |

You unravel the beauties of nature and let us see clearly the photo that rests in your mind...I love the vision you created with this wonderful poem.... |

You know, my friends, my new boss was traveling through the office today, and he said "it's days like this where you wish you could be retired and just WORK in your gardens" and for the first time in my life... I knew what he meant. Thank you all so much...I will continue the Robin Chronicles...although I am sure you have all seen such a sight, such a miracle, it's because of your open hearts that I will go ahead and pen the ditties that come to mind. God bless you! You are all... fantabulous! |

Sunshine...This was just the most delightful poem. Nature can be an example of how the heart of a mother can extend far into the animal or bird kingdom. Enjoyed this piece very much. Hope all is well with the hen and her brood ***Ivy Rose |

I had a sparrow build a nest in the wreath on my front door once...it gets very interesting when the birds fly IN your house when you open the door...especially when you have 2 cats Last year I had turtle doves nest in a wicker basket planter on my front porch...she had 3 babies...and they were quite tame...they didnt mind our coming and goings. Leave it to you to find such lovely inspiration in the most unlikely places You're the best I've ever felt ... |

My sources inform me that robin incubation is about 14 days and the mom may do 2 to 3 broods a year. Karilea, you've created a bird watching task which all PIP enjoys. Thx for the update! KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
